“I will help You”

Never a truer word has ever been spoken to a slippery and scheming soul than this phrase. Nor a mightier assurance given to a world at war with itself than this statement. It is the complete version in itself. The speaker is a matter of fact, certain. Not traumatized by the past nor scared about the future. His heart and soul is totally involved. And He knows what he is talking about and to whom He is speaking. “… I am with you; I am your God; I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand; …O Jacob my servant.” Isa 41:10; 44:2

The Omnipotent softly speaks what He wills in His heart and able to perform by his hand: I will – Help. Assist. Support. Defend. Come to your rescue. Bail you out. Further your interest. Soothe your pain. Get you out of the spot. Take you further. Strengthen your weak hands. Do you a favour. Get your back. Alleviate your suffering. Assuage and improve your lot.
Folks, help is here! Not just because it is a new year, but because it is a New You. Do not waste such help this year. He will fight your impediment. He will remove your hindrance. Even save your skin! Yes, no more living a lie. No more playing to the gallery. It’s time to roll your sleeves and work the help He offers admirably.

Were there things you wanted to do for the Lord and His mission in the years gone by? And you missed doing such noble things. Don’t beat up yourself. Take His word to your heart and head. Embrace them with your two hands. He who cannot renegade the word He speaks to you. I will help you, so do the needful.

Are there act of kindness you missed in the your community due to your over stretched activities of life. Perhaps some golden opportunity to show grace escaped you in the time past. So you feel and so it seems – your heart, head and neighbours’. Take courage. Lost ground can be recovered. Let this assurance hold control: I will help you, so go on and show them love.

So you struggle with your roles as father or mother. You were plagued with demand at work, in offices, yeah even in ministry. And you lost that Midas touch of loving parents to needy children. If I were you, I wont let the enemy squeeze life out of me. I will not look to my offsprings with sense of despair. I will quickly lay hold of His word: I will help you, just start from where I stopped.

Even so some people needed a shoulder to lean on and yours was not available as they sought. Some young believers in dare need of guidance, counseling, instruction in righteousness and on how to follow truly the way of the Lord lost out on account of your non-availability. Not much came from you because of the hollow you feel or the life you live. Rise up now get His help needed help to help others.

God’s work worldwide still need you. There are missionaries whose need you can still meet on your knees and with your cash. Of course, there are several mission positions, locations, and situations your skills, gifts, experiences and talents could address. That may constitute a call. If I were you, I will grab His help and turn myself to the help others need.

We need help: As you know, El-Rehoboth Global Leadership Foundation, its Global Missions, M2414 Initiative is a mission organization with no local church support base. We depend on God’s provision through the generosity of His people to finance our missionary activities on day to day basis. We therefore urge you to give generously to this work. 1 Cor 15:58 And remember, each time you give to this ministry you become one of our G3partners: Global Glory of God Partners joining us to champion Christ’s global cause through their resources.

Do Your Own Bit

An incident happened in my compound few weeks ago between me and the young man hired to mow my lawn. He is very good at his job, except that he hardly follows instruction when it comes to trimming the flowers. My lofty dream of nurturing some plants to a particular height doesn’t seem to fit his mindset. His mind is made as to the height of those plants. Very skillful and knowledgeable about what to do but strongly lacking in comradeship. I was about picking quarrels with him again when the Lord took my mind to the rebuilding team put together by Nehemiah.

Between my Gardner and Nehemiah’s team God taught me that it is not enough to have a great team who know their jobs and are armed with the right set of skills, the team must be willing and obedient. Unlike my Gardner who takes pride in his skill, to truly mobilize the Church for right impact across the world, the church must work harmoniously, brick to brick, bolts and locks – leaving nothing unattended to. “So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half of its height, for the people had a mind to work.” Neh. 4:6

Not all Nehemiah’s team members were builders. Some were perfumers, goldsmiths, politicians, priests, merchants, all kinds of professionals. I was savouring this breakthrough team when I arrived Abuja with my own team of planners, preachers, writers, artists, drivers, chefs, musicians, photographers, recordists, and several others to execute the M2414Summit. Attended by hundreds of participants (though far less than we had hoped and planned for) the Summit witnessed incredible utterance and insights from God’s servants.

Building the wall was their collaborative call, and doing it together was of utmost joy to them. Like Uncle Nehemiah, we also had months of planning and praying. All that came to crescendo last week as we successfully held M2414Summit 2018 edition at Asokoro Foursquare Gospel Church. Every session was a treasure of sort. “If this Summit is called again next week or month I will attend” says one of the leaders. “I am awed by the quality of the word and practicality of the instructions”, he concluded. Every speaker, every planner, and every team member were on course at the Summitto heed God’s call: Mobilize your Church; Multiply your impact.

The Summit calls for a new generation of believers who will respond to Evangelist Matthew Owojaiye’s concern “It’s true that we are carrying the Jesus gene in us but the question is when will it manifest? When are we going to truly live our lives for Him?” While calling for national rebirth, Dr. Ilechukwu wonders if what he terms our national prayer (the second stanza of our national anthem) is answered, what kind of nation will be born.

Certainly, God wants to reach the world with his saving grace through His Body. But first the Church must hear and obey God’s word for herself before shoveling it down the throat of this sinful world. A broken, fractured and bleeding church needs God’s fresh touch and grace to serve as healing agents to the rest of the world. The Church has never lacked the strategy to win the world for Christ… This strategy is called the Great Commission” Dr. Ayokunle, the CAN National President opined.

Like Nehemiah led the team that rebuilt Jerusalem wall, God is calling everyone in the Church to do his or her own bit. And at the Summit, everyone did just that to fulfill God’s call because M2414 Team had the mind to work. It is such a humbling experience to see that we heeded the holy order to get the church mobilized and empowered the Body for maximum impact.

Treasure in Your Bags

I learnt something from the Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Egypt, Uncle Joseph Jacobson. The man is nameless but He had studied his Boss within the short space of time of serving the recently Pharaoh appointed lord of Egypt. He knew Joseph’s God is a Treasure Holder. And that He dispenses it at will to whosever He chooses and uses just about anyone to do the distribution.

Joseph’s siblings had returned to Egypt again to buy grain from Joseph. They came with their sack full of cash. More than enough for their new purchases and refund of the money they inadvertently went home with the last time they shopped. They also came with seven assorted gift items to appease the Prime Minister. They needed gain and wanted their brother Simeon released to go back home with them.

Before they met Joseph, the Chief of Staff took a look at all the gift and cash they brought. He listened to all their explanations as they strained to demonstrate their innocence. “We have no intent to defraud your master,” they pleaded. But the Chief Servant blurted out a statement that seemed overwhelming to the panic stricken, hunger driven, sin hunted and morally plundered sons of Jacob. The sons of the Patriarch heard a golden sermon from the lips of a pagan “Your God and the God of your father has put treasure in your sacks for you. I received your money.” Gen. 43:23

“God is in charge here” the guy seems to be saying. “We do as He orders. Pharaoh may be on the throne as the king of the territory. But Jehovah, the God of your father, is the Lord of all, and especially, the Treasury, even here”, he asserted. In Egypt, Joseph serves both temporal king and Eternal Lord admirably to fulfill eternal purpose. From this chief Servant of Joseph we draw eternal Truth: What we give and what we get belong to the Treasurer.

We equally learnt it is God who was scripting all the drama, from day one, when Joseph left home. The Lord was orchestrating the melody. It’s Him who started it the good work who will bring it to fruition. It’s God who holds the treasure and it’s Him who empowers us to create wealth. Jacob family may be rich in goods and cash, but they had no food and needed external and Eternal help to preserve their race. Food they got and treasure heaven added.

Missionaries are sometimes like Jacob sons, sent on Father’s errand to preserve races for Eternal life. They equally need, not just food but treasure they did not labour for tucked into their bags. They are often subjected to irregular source of food supply, like Jacob family in the era of famine. But because they are on Father’s errand and because they are working to establish posterity, we ought to bless the missionaries by putting kingdom treasure in their bags, in their place of call or land of service. They should be considered as deserving Kingdom Treasure from others who are custodians.

It is God’s way of doing things. He put some in charge of regular flow of goods for the good of all. He sometimes places some in locations where the flow is intermittent. Like those serving on mission front. If God gives you a chance this week, be the one who puts treasure in the bag (bank account) of missionary or mission group because who He is, not on account of who they are. Actually, I know some missionaries in whose bags you can deposit treasure today.  Some are traveling with me on a a mission trip to Ghana today and I have a couple of them labouring faithfully in El-Rehoboth Foundation.

Missions Without Apology

I listened recently to a young pastor who was literally begging his audience to accept that working for his denomination is pitiable charity service where the pay couldn’t even match his previous income. I was saddened but happy. Saddened at his lack of depth as he made feign attempt to show that making money elsewhere has paid off. Listening to him you will probably feel sorry for his place of service; that he was too much a big fish swimming in a small pond. I hope he gets some help to know the true nature of Christian service. My fear is that he may not get much help going by his environment of ministry.
The young preacher’s struggle suggests that sacrificial commitment to God’s global effort at reaching the last frontier is a hackling task meant for those who could not secure other great things in their lives. How mistaken he is. He ignores and has totally forgotten why we serve God in the first instance or why some give so much sacrificially to God’s mission, and of course why we pour our whole being into making Jesus known worldwide. Serving God as a missionary, at whatever level is a unique kind of service, an unquantifiable privilege. The pay may not be much but the benefits are way beyond this world.

We don’t serve God for the pay, we serve Him because He is our pay – our exceeding great reward.  Serving God calls for more than working away from good pay, it requires embracing intentional sacrifice!

How would anyone compare God’s call upon His people to extend the frontiers of His Kingdom to a pitiable charity work, just because of the monthly pay check? How could someone possibly equate God’s unquenchable desire to extend His redeeming love to all humanity as an act of Non-Governmental Organization! It is inconceivable that anyone in ministry, truly called of God, will trivialize what Heaven calls honorable service. “No one takes this honor to himself, but only when called by God…” Heb 5:4

I am writing this piece on the outskirt of Nairobi Kenya where I have been part of an effort to galvanize the Body of Christ to raise Christ-Centered Leaders at an ongoing Global Mentoring and Disciple Making Retreat for Mentor Link Leadership Team and its Round Table Fellowship. Aside the acute shortfall of Christ-Centered leaders around the world, let me remind my readers of God’s heart cry to raise for Himself servants after the similitude of Christ. A cry for those who will consider serving the Father an honor, not a compel obligation; and owe no friends, family or foes an apology. And call for those who will stand with them in supplying the needed resources.

Imagine one fourth of the world lives in reclusive Frontier People Groups with less than 0.1% Christian of any kind. That is true and they are the thirty-one largest frontier People Groups in critical need of prayer and missional breakthrough. That is a whopping 1,862,500,000 people! According to 24:14 Global Coalition Prayer Team, “These FPGs perceive Christianity as a foreign influence threatening to tear apart their families and communities.” In fact, they will do everything to withstand God’s emissaries; obstruct or wear out gospel witness; and frustrate real work that leads to true salvation in Christ Jesus.

We remain unapologetic about this call and undeterred in our proclamation of the critical frontline work among this group of people; we project FPGs plight to all Christians in every local church as we source resources that will be released to get the work done.
